WTF World Lion DayAugust 10th 2021

To celebrate these beautiful Lions, John Steward, President and Founder of WTF has launched “World Lion’s Day” in their honor, on August 10th, 2021

For Lion lovers all over the globe, World Lion Day aims to raise awareness of the majestic hunter, the ultimate feline, the king of the jungle, the big fluffy kitty of the Serengeti

Lions are the majestic kings of the African savannah.

They are the apex predator of the habitats in which they range, regulating prey populations, disease and keeping ecosystems in balance.

August 10th is World Lion Day it is a day to celebrate lions and to raise awareness of the conservation challenges facing one of nature’s most feared and loved predators.

The WTF is all about saving wild spaces and biodiversity. From having secured over 2,500 acres of land in the Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve to protect, restore and re-wild a critically important wildlife corridor in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa for critically endangered and vulnerable species, to assisting the people living in the poor rural communities that surround the protected areas, Wild Tomorrow Fund ensures the lions and tigers live a happy, healthy and harm-free life as possible, in African and Asia.

In 1966, Virginia McKenna OBE and Bill Travers MBE both passionate about wild animal welfare and compassionate conservation, starred in the classic wildlife film Born Free.

Born Free was a true story of conservationists Joy and George Adamson who rescued a lioness cub called Elsa and successfully returned her to the wild.  Their passion led them to creating Born Free, a wildlife conservation and welfare charity.

Right now, Born Free is working in collaboration with Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary to provide safe, natural enclosures for big cats, rescued from zoos, circuses and other captive facilities.

Did you know that Australia Zoo supports the most successful tiger conservation program in Asia? They do!

It’s the Sumatran tiger Protection plan in Kerinci Seblat National Park in Indonesia/
